Johanna W. Roberts

Johanna W. Roberts is a litigator in the firm's San Francisco office. She received her B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from Dartmouth College in 1993, where she was elected Phi Beta Kappa. In 1997, she received her J.D., with high honors, from Harvard Law School.

Ms. Roberts joined the firm in October 2008. She specializes in representing corporate entities and individuals in state and local tax matters, both in administrative proceedings and judicial litigation at the trial and appellate levels. Her expertise includes income tax, sales and use tax, property tax, and tobacco tax, among others. She regularly litigates constitutional issues such as apportionment and discrimination against interstate commerce; unitary combination issues; issues involving the constitutional requirements for tax enactment; and complex statutory issues. Her practice draws on a decade of complex civil litigation experience representing clients in antitrust, intellectual property, securities, consumer protection and other matters, with a particular emphasis on class action practice. She also has substantial experience in mediation and alternative dispute resolution. Prior to joining Silverstein & Pomerantz LLP, Ms. Roberts was a complex civil litigation attorney with Morrison & Foerster LLP from 1997 to 2008.

Ms. Roberts is a member of the bar of the State of California. She is admitted to practice before the California state courts, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
